How interior design and color trends support and balance us
Colors are nature's gift to humanity. Just as nature shows its emotions with different tones, they subconsciously affect people too, whether we want to admit it or not. Gloomy days calm the mood, while the sun brings immense amounts of energy. In autumn and winter, we rest with nature to shine again in spring and summer. This is nature's way of balancing itself and a good example for humanity if we only want to learn.
The challenging and complex period of previous years forced us into a situation where physical boundaries unexpectedly began to break open boundaries within us. We rediscovered values hidden under superficial haste in terms of the world, countries, nations, and family. The shock of being shaken out of our comfort zone and fear of the unknown united us all, but mostly families. We draw strength from home to recover and find the courage and confidence to move forward, even if everything else in the world is uncertain.
It is interesting to note here that colors do not only affect us in space but also through what we wear. Interior design, furnishing products, and clothing are all part of a whole because these are the environments that humans come into most immediate contact with. Home creates the background and mood, clothes carry that feeling outside, and often the same things are sought in both: a sense of security, clarity, softness, or energy instead.
Color psychology is a whole large branch of science, to the research and development of which some people dedicate their entire lives. International expert groups of the world's leading paint manufacturers carefully monitor what is happening in the world and especially how it affects all people emotionally and psychologically.
Every year, they propose a trend color and matching color palettes to best help adapt to what is happening in the world and to psychologically balance and support people. If we look more closely, we find shades of the same color everywhere else around us: in design, electronics, and even in the automotive and architecture industries. Just as naturally, these tones move in fashion, repeat in fabrics, patterns, and details, and reach back to people's everyday lives, well-being, and self-confidence.
This is also the reason to consciously bring these colors around you and into your home. Home is the starting point from where we go into the wide world every morning with exactly the preparation it allows us. If we want balance, clarity, and order, let's each start from our own home and immediate surroundings.
